Bell's Turtle headstarting releases 2019

UNE Masters Student Lou Streeting has had a spectacularly successful season of headstarting the next generation of Bell's Turtles, with very high hatching success rates that have enabled over 200 turtle hatchlings to be raised on campus.

Pictures speak a 1000 words, so here are some stills from a recent release (thanks Geoff!) and a short Youtube video. This is excellent news for the population and, given that we know that some of these turtles are surviving, will help increase recruitment and get this wonderful animal back into our rivers!
